Turn an Instagram comment or keyword into an automated reply, a private DM, and a structured lead — collected in your Repli dashboard and exportable to CSV or a webhook.
Ask one question at a time inside the DM — feels like chat, not a form.
Every completed lead lands in your Repli dashboard, tagged and searchable.
Export leads as CSV, or push them in real time to your own system with a webhook.
On Pro+, AI can tag hot, warm and cold leads based on conversation signals after an AI-credit recharge.
Comment trigger → public reply → private DM → captured lead, in one automation.
Stores user opt-in timestamps for compliance recordkeeping.
Turn comments on a Reel into booked calls by asking qualifying questions inside the DM.
Capture buyer or seller intent, budget and location inside a DM conversation.
Collect student details from comments before a human follows up.
Ask for size, city or preference before sending a product link or discount code.
Collect name and phone number from comment leads instead of losing them in notifications.
Run one lead-capture flow per client and export each list separately.
A landing page form asks a follower to leave Instagram, load a new page, and fill in a box with no feedback. A DM conversation keeps the follower inside the app they are already using, and only asks one short question at a time.
Repli asks for the email, then the phone number, then the qualifying detail you actually sell against — budget, city, team size, treatment type — and each answer is stored as a structured field rather than free text you have to clean up later.
The flow is straightforward: a comment matching your trigger gets an optional public reply plus a private DM, the DM asks your configured questions one at a time, and the completed answers are saved as a lead in your Repli dashboard.
From there, export the list as CSV whenever you need it, or set up a webhook so new leads land in your own system automatically. Compare plan limits and AI-qualification availability on the pricing page.
Most accounts have five realistic lead sources: comments on Reels and feed posts, story replies and story mentions, direct messages started by the follower, the link in bio, and paid traffic sent to any of those. Only the first three can start an automated conversation, because Instagram only lets a business message someone who messaged or interacted first.
That constraint shapes the whole strategy. A Reel that asks for a one-word comment creates a permitted conversation for every person who comments, which is why comment-to-DM outperforms "link in bio" for lead capture: the follower never leaves the app and you end up with a conversation rather than an anonymous page view.
Lead magnet delivery: a Reel ends with "comment GUIDE". The comment triggers a public reply ("Sent!") and a DM containing the guide link, then one question — "What are you working on right now?" — whose answer is saved with the lead.
Consultation booking: comment "CALL" triggers a DM asking budget range, then timeline, then the booking link. Only people who answer both questions receive the link, so the calendar fills with qualified calls instead of browsers.
Product enquiry: comment "PRICE" triggers a DM asking which product and which city, then sends the matching price list and shipping estimate.
Waitlist or webinar: comment "JOIN" triggers a DM asking for an email address, stores it as a lead, and confirms registration in the same conversation.
Story reply qualification: a poll or question sticker reply triggers a DM that asks one qualifying question before a human picks up the thread.
Qualification works best as two or three short questions with clear options, not an interrogation. A practical pattern is: "What best describes you — creator, business or agency?", then a budget or timeline question, then the offer that matches the answer.
Branch on the answer rather than sending everyone the same reply. A creator asking about pricing needs a different next message than an agency asking about managing ten accounts, and the answer you captured tells you which one to send.
Hand over as soon as the conversation stops being predictable: a complaint, a refund request, a custom quote, a question your automation has no answer for, or any message where the person clearly wants a person. Set those intents as handoff triggers and let a human take the thread.
Automation is there to answer the first message instantly and collect the facts a human would otherwise have to ask for. It is not there to argue with an unhappy customer.
Asking for too much too early. An email, phone number, company size and budget in the first DM reads as a form and gets abandoned. Ask for the one field you genuinely need, then earn the rest.
Sending the link without a conversation. The link gets clicked and you learn nothing about who clicked it. One question before the link costs you very little and gives you a lead record instead of a click.
Ignoring the 24-hour window. Instagram only allows a business to reply within 24 hours of the last user message. Follow-ups planned for day three will not send, so design the sequence to finish inside the window.
Keyword collisions. If the same keyword triggers two automations on the same post, the result is unpredictable. Keep one keyword per outcome per post.
Four numbers tell you whether the funnel works: comments received per post, DMs successfully delivered, conversations that reached the qualifying question, and leads completed. The drop between each pair points at the step to fix.
If comments are high but DMs are low, the trigger keyword is wrong or people are commenting something else. If DMs are high but completions are low, the questions are too long or arrive in the wrong order.
A comment or keyword triggers an automated DM. Repli asks the qualifying questions you configured one at a time inside the DM, and stores the answers as a structured lead in your dashboard.
The follower stays inside Instagram instead of loading a separate page, and answers one short question at a time instead of filling out a form.
Yes — leads can be exported as CSV or delivered in real time through a webhook to your own system.
Yes. Repli stores consent timestamps and supports data deletion requests via /data-deletion.
There is no separate cap on leads — outbound messages are limited by your plan's messaging limits, and the Free plan has limited daily credits.
Yes. A comment on a Reel or feed post can trigger the same public-reply-plus-DM flow and feed the same lead list.
Comment-to-DM lead capture is available starting on the Creator plan for Instagram. AI-based lead qualification is a Pro+ feature and needs an AI-credit recharge. See the pricing page for full plan details.
