How WhatsApp Marketing and Automation Work in Repli

Step-by-step: connect WhatsApp Business, build an opted-in audience, use Meta-approved templates, schedule campaigns or trigger automations, and read sent, delivered, read and failed statuses.

Use Meta’s embedded signup inside Repli to select or create your business and connect a WhatsApp number.

Add contacts by typing numbers, uploading a spreadsheet, or picking saved contacts. You can exclude numbers.

Before a spreadsheet upload can be sent, you confirm these contacts opted in to hear from you.

Choose a template Meta has approved and fill its variables, such as the customer’s name.

Send a campaign now, schedule it for later, or switch on an automation with its trigger and delays.

WhatsApp reports each message back. Repli shows it as sent, delivered, read or failed.

An event happens: a keyword message, a click-to-WhatsApp ad, or (with a connected Shopify store) an order, COD order or abandoned cart.

A sequence of steps, with optional delays. A customer reply stops pending follow-ups.

Free-form replies, by a person or AI, within 24 hours of their last message.

Needs a Meta business and a number usable on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Growth plan or higher.

A customer message matching your keywords, or any message if you choose reply to all.

An instant reply, which can include reply buttons, a list or a link button.

Free-form replies only within 24 hours of the customer’s last message.

Repli reads the tapped button or list choice and continues the flow.

WhatsApp limits how many buttons and list rows a message can have.

Repli sends the conversation and your instructions to the AI and replies.

Uses AI credit. AI answers can be wrong, so review sensitive topics.

Runs inside the 24-hour window because the customer started the chat.

A customer asks to book with the booking assistant switched on.

The AI checks open times, books the slot and can send reminders.

You type numbers, upload a spreadsheet, pick saved contacts, or use a saved segment (by tag, stage or recent activity).

Repli builds the recipient list and removes excluded numbers.

You confirm uploaded contacts opted in. Repli does not record a separate consent field for each WhatsApp contact, so permission is your responsibility.

You submit a template from Repli, or use one already approved.

Repli checks the language code and variable format, then submits it to Meta.

The template with variables filled in, for example their name.

Needed for campaigns and for any message after 24 hours. Repli checks a template is still approved just before a campaign sends.

Meta charges for template messages by category and country, billed to your WhatsApp Business account.

A keyword message, a click-to-WhatsApp ad, or a connected store event.

Steps run in order, with optional waits. Any customer message stops pending follow-ups.

Supports waits and “stop when they reply”. Complex if/else branching is not something we could confirm.

Repli sends now, after a delay, or at a set time in your time zone.

Outside the 24-hour window this must be an approved template.

Needs a connected store. The Store workspace is in private beta.

Repli updates each recipient to sent, delivered, read or failed, with failure reasons.

No. WhatsApp requires opt-in for business messages. Repli asks you to confirm opt-in before sending to uploaded contacts, and you are responsible for that permission being real.

WhatsApp only lets businesses start a conversation, or message someone after 24 hours, with a template Meta has approved. Just before sending, Repli checks the template is still approved for that number. If it is not, the campaign stops instead of sending.

Give them a clear way to say no, for example an opt-out button in your template, and remove them from your audience by adding them to the exclusion list. Repli does not currently remove people automatically when they reply STOP.

WhatsApp (Meta) charges for template messages based on category and country, billed to your WhatsApp Business account. Repli’s plan price is separate. Check Meta’s current pricing before large sends.
